VAT on commercial vehicles
Permalink Closed

Morning, am hoping someone can point me in the right direction re some info that I need.

I have a client that uses commercial vehicles, he hires them for his staff. He then pays them a monthly allowance for fuel. Where can I find on the Revenue website the allowable fuel allowance as I cannot see it? Am thinking the allowance will be low as they are not privately owned therefore no allowance for wear and tear etc.

Thanks

Hi Fiona

The subject line says VAT - but there's no mention of VAT in your post? What are you trying to achieve, hun? That may determine the link you need.

I suspect the more important factor would be whether there is private use on the vehicles, or whether they are left at the office overnight, having only been used for business purposes. Is your client accounting for a car benefit in kind on each employee, but trying to avoid a fuel benefit?

Here's start anyway
