Advertising nominal Code Sage
Permalink Closed

Just after a bit of help.

The default Advertising nominal code 6201 is under direct expenses, but when doing accounts for an events company where should I put the advertising?

They have many leaflets produced, general ones advertising all events and the company a direct expense therefore I feel should be in 6201.

However they also have leaflets made just for a certain event to advertise that only. Where should I post this, as it is a cost of sale but should it go in the 5000's somewhere?

Or should I be putting them under printing 7500?

They want the event leaflets to show on the P&L report

You are correct in thinking that since these per-event leaflets are a cost of sales, they logically fit in the 5000 range. Create a suitable code in that range, and make sure it shows in the right place on the chart of accounts.

Advertisement is very challenging and being the new business owner, I am not able to decide on which methods are going to be beneficial for me. Moreover, some of the online marketing techniques are very expensive. So, at the moment I am just thinking to use business sms marketing technique which is affordable and I can manage the campaigns on my own. What do you think about it?
