I've put an advert online and they haven't sent me a receipt. The amount is very small (under 5 pounds), so it's not going to make a big difference whether I include it as an expense or not, but I wondered what happens in these situations. Is my bank statement enough of a proof, or would I need an invoice/receipt to be able to class it as an expense? I'm self-employed.
Whilst it's always best to have a receipt, as long as you can back up the purchase (as you have) then imo that's sufficient. I would put a slip of paper in your accounts and write on what it was for and the amount and date.

Justin, you cannot just go printing off receipts that you make up yourself!
The idea of a backup receipt is photographing both sides of a legitimate receipt on your smartphone.

You are capitalising and spelling it incorrectly, though. It's a proper noun, so should start with a capital - and it's spelt with a double d: Overpuddlian. :p
