Directors Salary / NIC
Permalink Closed

Good afternoon.

Having spent the best part of the afternoon pondering on this problem I have accepted it may not be a problem but I am still not confident.

During the year a new client left his well paid PAYE employment and started as a one man Ltd Company.

He has since been paid a salary each month of £833.33 giving rise to a NIC charge of £20.44 a month.

For month 12 he was paid the same pay as previous months but the Payroll suggests a refund is due of £46 88.

I use Moneysoft, and ticked the box to use the alternative scheme for calculating Directors NIC.

I thought this would ensure a consistent NIC charge?

Also as NIC is not included in the Directors SA return, how would the overpayment be dealt with?

Any explanation would be appreciated.

Regards

Jay

Just out of curiosity, have you put in a date for the date the Directorship started when you were filling in the Directors details as this will affect the figures in the final payment?
