Companies House question

I am using BTC software to submit company returns and for the abbreviated accounts it asks for the Presenter ID- I have printed off the form but a little confused- do I have to complete one for every client or is it like HMRC and I request an agent code- the form asks for Company number etc on the Presenter Detail bit which makes me think one for each client

Hi Sharon

Is it possible that it's the Authentication code? If you log in via Companies House there's no agent code to input so that's only thing I can think of. Do BTC provide any help guides?

The presenter ID is your company authorisation for Companies House, similar to the agent code you have for HMRC.

You need to request a presenter ID from Companies House.

For example, I have an account with Companies House and whenever I submit an a set of abbreviated accounts from Taxcalc it uses both the presenter ID and the company authentication code in order they are submitted.

thanks Mark I assumed it was like an agent code but there are 3 forms to download from Companies House and all ask for presenters details as in Company registration details so was confused because what if I wasn't Limited (I am ) and wanted to be an agent- it says those fields are mandatory so made me think I had to maybe put the clients details in!

John I spoke to BTC and they just directed me to CH web site

This should be the only one you need, but they usually ask for this too

www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/360008/ofscaa.pdf

They made me fill out both despite that I didnt need credit!

I am not sure why they insist on a company name, because as you say, so many practices aren't Ltd!  I am imagine all one could do is put in the business name and write "sole trader" in the number section!  Not sure whether that would get accepted, but there's no way they have made all practices go Ltd, so there must be some work around?

I recall when we applied for this as a partnership we were told to leave the the register number blank.
it was accepted without any issue.

We did not apply for the credit application and pay as and when required .

best wishes

Jay
