Bizzare but i thought i'd share this as you may find it amusing.
I fell down stairs on Sunday whilst carrying washing. I hurt my big toe badly but thought i wouldn't make a fuss and rejected an offer of A&E. Got up this morning and big toe was black. Decided to go to A&E so phoned into to my employer to tell them. In the afternoon i am sat at home with my foot up and there is a knock at the door. 2 new clients wanting Self-assessments. Had i not had the accident i wouldn't have been at home and may have missed the opportunity.
Not so bad breaking your toe!
Nice one Elaine, hope that they prove lucrative long standing (too soon?) clients and really hope that your toes better soon (now that it's done it's work).
For anyone else, I have a 12lb lump hammer if anyone needs to have a toe broken. Only £20 a toe but you may (#1) get a client from it.
Lol, Shamus, the Arthur Daley of Accounting.
get well soon,
Shaun.
#1 no guarantee of acquiring clients is given. Service offered also works well for getting out of marathons that you have mistakenly signed up for.
For march only, pay for one broken toe, get one free.

Haha ! Good to see something good come out of adversity ! I once had to have my kitchen floor replaced after a leak. So whilst plying the workers with tea/coffee, dropped into conversation what I did for a living, and gained a new client ! After that I started getting "no obligation" quotes from all sorts of businesses, so that I could "advertise" what I did. Managed to get 2 more clients !!! I did actually have some work done by these workmen as well - so everyone happy, lol !!

I might pay you to break a few people's toes and heads for me, just because they are annoying! Another new business idea!

Wish we had likes on here as laughing my socks off (just socks no toes!) at these replies. Good therapy after a day with my head in the cloud - Xero to be specific!
Last year my boyfriend had to do his Forklift refresher training. The guy who came and did it was self-employed. I now do his Self-Assessments. And he pays upfront.
It's great when you get new clients like that from word of mouth when you least expect it.
I was hanging around outside your offices with flyers. There were just sooo many waiting there.
Thought that there might have been a few late comers to be mopped up but guess not... Well, ya snooze ya lose! lol.
Seriously though, hope that everything went ok with the hip operation and that recovery is going well,
take care of you,
All the best,
Shaun.

yes hip doing well, I'm able to drive and walked the dog for three miles earlier in the week (I took the scenic route), after two miles I was regretting it! Back at work full time now but leg gets very sore just sitting at the desk.
Jo the physio has given me new exercises and boy do they fatigue the muscles..it's a brutal procedure, go You Tube it!
Be worth it in the end Rob, the three mile walk sounds like you're doing by well. My neighbour had it done and didn't do the physio so when she finally hot round to it it took quite a bit longer to get back to normal, although she is doing very well now. Keep going!!

You need to benchmark yourself against dodgy Dave, oops I meant dodgy hip Dave. You two are like the bionic men of BKN.
My Dad had a new knee a couple of years back and we kept telling him beforehand about doing the physio - sods law dictated that he had almost 90 degree maneuverability in it from the first day he could walk on it!
