Hi.
very basic and silly question.
if someone wants to take on an employee for say 2-3 hours a week and say that person is under 16. Does the employer need to run payroll?
Another scenario is say the employer needed someone casually say 2-3 hours a week but not every week only when they were called in. Does the company need to run payroll?
Thanks
stuart
According to HMRC website (www.gov.uk/paye-for-employers) you're exempt from the PAYE scheme if none of your employees is paid £111 or more a week, gets expenses and benefits, has another job or gets a pension. However, you must keep payroll records.

The key words here Staurt are that NONE of your employees earns more than he figure Lisa mentions and as long as they dont get paid esxpenses, benefits, have another job or pension. So then you could pay them £110.99
