I have been around this site for a while under a different user name as I found the site to be very useful while doing my own bookkeeping when I was a Driving Instructor 9 years ago. However, since I have now started my AAT Qualification and know what I should have been doing (at least I was sensible enough to use an accountant to file my tax return!) I have restarted in line with the new me.
Even though I haven't posted often, I have found this site to be so helpful and interesting and regularly read through the threads. I am hoping to be able to join in much more now that I've started to do things properly!
I am looking to do a bit of bookkeeping alongside my studies and full time job so that I can put in to practice what I have learned and build myself up slowly to, one day, being able to set up on my own. I have a website but no clients yet, I'm still thinking about software, although Excel seems to be working for me for now. I know about the need to register with HMRC and get PII, as well as not being able to mention AAT until I am MAAT and have MIP etc. I'm working through all the hints and tips I can find and putting together checklists for due diligence and letters of engagement etc whilst trying not to spend too much money up front!! I'm not expecting it to be easy but hope to get going soon - I've had a few nibbles!
Again, thanks for the help so far!
