Given I am diving into the world of payroll decided worth doing some payroll training.

I am thinking of joining the CIPP and doing the 3 unit National Payroll Certificate.

Is anyone a member of CIPP?

Has anyone done the National Payroll Certificate or any of the other courses that the CIPP run?  If so were they useful?

My payroll knowledge is basic but then again all my clients payroll needs are basic though sure will come across SMP, SSP and the other quirky bits of payroll at some point.

Hi Mark,

This is not related to the topic what so ever but I think your website has been hacked. Some of the links are leading to external websites. If you click the logos at the top it will lead you to some dodgy looking websites.

(Couldn't find how to PM you hence the post)

Hi Mark,

I am a member of CIPP. I took the diploma which was their top offering at the time many years back. I still pay my annual membership so I can use the letters after my name but I haven't really gained any benefit. I think if I was doing more payroll I would take advantage of membership more.

Thank Rob

Really just looking for good comprehensive course explaining payroll.  I know the basics but not the detail.  The national payroll certificates seemed to cover that.

Though found out today it isnt a 3 day course you need to do it is actually a  6 day course as you need to day 1, 2 and 3 as well as revision for days 1, 2 and 3 before you sit the exam.  Seems pretty strange to me as my understanding is that revision days is only something you request if you need more help or if you have failed the exam and want to refresh your knowledge.

So might just do the groupon online payroll training course that I bought last year for £20.  As that will probably cover everything I need to know.  Not really bothered about letters after name but could just join the CIPP as an affiliate so can say i am a member.
