I was doing a little work this morning, and I spotted what I consider to be an utterly ludicrous charge on an invoice that my client has received. I consider this a new low in terms of what some companies feel they can get away with.
The charge was £3.50 plus VAT, for "email delivery".
Sheesh. :(

Brilliant, I have around 200 clients. I'm going to email them all that I now charge £3.50 plus vat for 'email delivery', thus generating a further £700 income...always good to come in on a Sunday!
I've seen worse, from memory £5 an email, but presumably this was for a reply to an accountancy query.
Yes - charging along those lines isn't unreasonable; I charge for my time, but generally don't 'clock on or off' when replying to emails, so that time is often lost, and I sometimes think I should do something like that (especially for certain clients!)
The charge in question, though, was for delivery of goods/services (in this case data) by email. The company is charging for the data supplied anyway - that's what the invoice was for - and whacked on a £3.50 charge for delivering it by email.
Personally, I think it's a piss take, and if it were a charge to me I wouldn't stand for it. I will point it out to my client when I speak to him and suggest he takes it up with his supplier.

If you put all your chasers to clients in a word document and then email the document - you could make a fortune!!
In all seriousness though - the only reason they get away with such a charge is because people let them - I reckon your client hasnt even noticed it Vince (which is the worrying trend!)
