I have an employee who works term time only so pro rate.  From start date to holiday end date, there are 20 weeks.

What is the best method to calculate holiday entitlement.

Hi Nicola

28 days / 52 x 20 = 10.76 days a year.

An alternative way is to multiply the number of hours worked by 12.07% (mostly used when hours vary from week to week)

Thanks John.

I had calculated to 11 days, but it seemed alot for a part time/term time only worker.

What a lot of educational institutions/after school/activity clubs do is to state that all holiday has to be taken out of term time. So they have to take their 11 days after the end of term.

Just a thought, you state holiday end date, is this the end of the school holiday? I had assumed it was the number of weeks they had worked to which they were entitled to holiday pay.

Also (and I'm sure you'll know this) but the 11 days represents their normal working day, so if they work 3 hours a day the holiday pay is 3 hours per day as well.
