Hi could anyone guide me please on how to do the vat return for purchases I make from France.
I periodically go to cash and carry's in Calais. The invoices I receive are in Euro's with some items having tax.
I have currently just been absorbing the VAT and showing the sterling figure through the accounts, but I am now registered for VAT. So do I need to do something for the VAT?
Hi some foods (so no tax) but also alcohol. All for a pub.

Are you declaring this to Her Majesties Revenue and Customs at point of entry?

Oh and I shouldve added - the Customs and VAT helpline at HMRC are really very helpful for pointing you in the right direction to get things sorted. Also - might be worth looking into bonded warehousing.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
