Copying VT Transactions to another file.

One for Shaun possibly. I've inadvertently opened an old file and inputted two months data into it.  (sale and purchase invoices and cash receipts)  Is there a way I can pull that data and copy it into the correct one, possibly by using the universal input sheet, or will I need to start again cry

you can but it takes a little bit of playing with so make sure that you test this on an test copy of your data first.

You drop the data that you want to Excel and then format it for a load (as you say via the UIS) in a bulk insert but as I say, to get the formatting right may take a little bit of trial and error as the generic headings of the UIS do not match with the specific field names that you will be using as the load screen needs to be suitably vague to cover all possible data loads.

I tend to use it if I need to resquence records but it's been a long time since I've had a VT file that messed up that I've needed to use it so whilst thats definitiely the facilitiy you need to do it, I'm a bit too rusty to be a lot of help on that one.

All the best,

Shaun.

Thanks Shaun.  I've made sure I've got a back up copy, but it looks like this shouldn't be too difficult.  I've posted the PIN's in and will do the rest this afternoon. I'll need to manually adjust the VAT where necessary, but a hell of a lot easier than starting again.

I'll double check everything once completed, just to be sure.
