Sage 50 Accounts Professional - buttons/icons now at top of window?? Can they be moved?
Permalink Closed

Hi - my client has just run an upgrade on their Sage 50 Accounts Professional and now in the bank, using Customer Receipts and Supplier Payments, the buttons/icons for Pay In Full etc are at the top of the window!!!  After 25 years of using Sage with the icons at the bottom of the windows this is a total pain in the neck!!!   It could be the same in other parts of the system too, it's just the bank is the first thing I have gone to use.

The Save and Close buttons are still at the bottom.  Does anyone know if I can move these please?

Thanks in advance.

Not being a user of a more recent version that 2013, I don't know if the buttons can be moved - but if your client has just upgraded, then shouldn't they be covered by the 30 days free support Sage provides*, before taxing people for the purpose? If so, you could call them and ask.

Even if they then say the buttons can't be moved, you would at least be voicing your dislike of the new layout. And you could point out that a good approach to a user interface is to keep it consistent and not suddenly change it for the sake of changing it!

(They've probably paid silly money to some outfit to perform a "usability study" who told them this was a good change to make, which it probably wasn't but they had to justify their fees.)

* Although if it's on a 'subscription' basis, the 30 days thing may not apply if the upgrade is part of the ongoing subscription, unless the client is paying slightly more to get support as well.

OMG - I know what you mean Victoria. Vince you would hate it Im sure. All the usual icons, plus quite a few extra are all across the top now - its so messy....very very cluttered.

Ive thought a few times - wonder if you can move them, but not had the time to try to find out. Certainly dont have the sage cover at their rip off prices. I reckon they are arrogant enough to suggest they did it as the result of feedback! Feedback from the same people who like sageone not doubt, as opposed to bookkeepers and accountants.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Thanks Joanne and Vince. My client has paid for support, so yes, I will phone Sage and ask the question. I've tried all the usual things like right clicking (which lets you add columns to Customer and Supplier screens).

If they can't be moved then at least I can voice my disapproval!

Thanks as always.
