Hi Elaine
I was going to PM you but you dont appear to have that facility set up on here - email address to follow (as I am literally just leaving to visit a client - back about 4pm so hope to speak to you later).

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have spoken with HMRC and they have talked me through it so I am going to process myself.

You go girl!

If you need any help feel free to give me a shout.

HMRC do some very handy webinars about PAYE where you can ask Qs - might be worth a look. In fact there is one tomorrow - in the first of the PAYE ones (there are a few on various topics including P11Ds/VAT etc

Welldone Elaine,

I agree with Joanne the webinars are really helpful, if a little dull to sit through!

Good luck

Before deciding on software Elaine also take a look at 12pay. There's a free version of it to get you started then add the extra functionality of the paid version later (payslips, reports, etc.).

A lot of people swear by moneysoft but not sure is they do a free starter version.

re Moneysoft: No they don't Shaun, just the 30 day trial.

re 12pay:  Free for up to 3 companies max 9 employees.  Doesn't produce payslips but for a sole director I'm sure something could be knocked up in excel.

http://www.12pay.co.uk/Licences.aspx for list of features in express edition.  Should beat HMRC Basic hands down.

Sorry, I forgot payroo was free. I was just thinking how Moneysoft is so good and there are loads of peeps on here who can help with info. Besides it's still cheap as chips for what it does. That said, I've just spoken to a new client who uses payroo, she says it's easy to use, just doesn't provide any of the 'niceties' (her words) such as p45s and p60s, but she is happy with the other stuff. She ordered her p6os from HMRC and I'm letting her have. Blum p45 cos she couldn't find one online, so sorted!!
