Software to do work for external Accountants
Permalink Closed

Hi

I have been very happy working with VT+ for the past few years, however, all my work has been for end clients, who basically have no idea what I am using! However, I have started to talk to local accountants to see if they have any work they would like to outsource. My only concern is if they want me to use Sage 50... I though I see if I could invest in something but have been horrified at the prices £30 pm for 1 business, if you want 5 it goes up to £66! What is the benefit of paying that much?

Anyone with experience doing bookkeeping for accountant, in what format would they want the work passing them? This could be a good source of work for me, but I don't want to fork out a huge amount of money monthly for nothing. I will only be working part-time as I have young children (who we have taken the decision to home educate for the moment), so I cannot justify the money really.

Thanks Lyndsey

Hi Lyndsey

It would depend on the accountant.  If they would be happy to use a trial balance and any reports needed you could still use VT+  Some accountants use VT Final Accounts without using VT+ so you could just send the file which they could then import.

I've only ever done a one off job indirectly for an accountant when a new client wanted me to do the bookkeeping and I sent the trial balance (printed from VT) and some other stuff.  I got an email back asking if I could add the sage nominal codes to the trial balance!!  Fortunately I knew them having worked on sage previously.
