Apart from informing companies house, do I need to also inform hmrc or will they automatically get updated via companies house

I would inform HMRC - you can do it online I think. If not they might not link up the CT return to the Accounts - thats what happened to mine, despite HMRC getting a letter (excuse was the letter was processed the day after the payment!)
