Correcting an error from a previous years bank reconciliation
Permalink Closed

Morning I am confused re a query at work. £200 came in in February from unknown debtor. So I put it in customer deposit account so I could do bank rec in June...accounts then locked so can't change. In September found out who amount was from.

So I then credited correct customer account in September as I can't post in previous year any more. I did a journal entry to reverse the customer deposit entry.

What I can't comprehend is how to reconcile September as it now has an amount of 200 extra as I have had to credit customer account.

Please can anyone help?!? I am using Kashflow and not sage. Thank you x

Hi
I dont use Kashflow but I do know in older versions of sage that you cannot journal into/out of the Bank accounts and this then skews the Bank recs. So I suggest journal the opposite way and key as you would when using the current account.

Would I be correct in thinking that Kashflow offer support for free? Failing the above not working then I would use their support and ask them.

Although someone might come along on here at some point who can help

Hi Again from one Joanne to another
Can you tell me if you had any luck sorting this? Just interested to know if it was the journal issue?

Ooh bugger (technical term for post year end sort outs!). Might be worth doing a reversing journal on the 1st day of the new year and seeing if that disappears but puts it right so to speak. Backups up first don't forget.....sorry I can drive people mad with my backup mantra!)
