Agent for payroll

Hi

Usually with payroll i have been on site working fo the employer using their payroll copany login details etc

I have now been asked to privately do someones payroll using my own software  - i have all the ML registrations in place etc and the software

Am i right to think that i need a PAYE Agent ID code which i have got, log on to my HMRC accont to access the service which i have done and then wait for an activtion code which is where i am at ........ then once i have that i log on to my MRC account enter the clients PAYE and accounts office references and HMRC then send them a letter with anther activation code and i then log into my HMRC account again and enter the code given by HMRC to the client and then i am good to go???

I am aware 64-8 and FBI2 need completion which i have done - do i need to send those to HMRC bearing in mind the above and HMRC have issued them a code etc - or just file them for my records???

Thanks

Hi Gail

If you've reached the stage where you're waitng for authorisation then once you receive your authorisation code pop back into your online account and enter the code.   Once thats done you can do the 64-8 for the client from your online account and just keep the paper copy for yourself.  Your client will receive an authorisation code in the post, which you then put into the online account under authorise client.

You dont have to wait for the clients authorisation code before doing the payroll.
