Letter for Signature to confirm Tax Return
Permalink Closed

Does anyone please have a copy of a letter they use to attain the clients signature to confirm the tax return is correct and can be forwarded to HMRC.  I had a standard letter I used but it seems to have disappeared goodness knows where!

Hi Valerie
Do you not have a copy in email that you have sent to a client, or one that has come back signed in a customer file/folder that you can re-create? Or does your reporting software not provide something?

People dont tend to share such documents, including the likes of engagement letters Im afraid, so you may need to cobble something together if the above places to search prove fruitless.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

I've only ever used HMRC online to submit return and there's a page you can print just before you hit the final button to submit that the client agrees to the figures. This has an identifying number which ties in with the return - so if you make the slightest alteration after this is signed then then numbers won't match up.
