Sage and Microsoft 10 compatibility

I keep getting those annoying messages on my laptop from Microsoft urging me to update to Windows 10.

I've got Sage 50 (client manager) 2012 - V18 and Sage 2011 - V17 on the same laptop

Has anyone got any experience of using these versions of Sage with Windows 10? I already encountered compatibility issues with Windows 8 - esp. in reports functions, but I can work with this.

As I use a multi-company & multi user sage, I don't want to be spending my hard earned money updating Sage so I can use Windows 10. disbelief

Only upgrade to Windows 10 if you want to - don't be bulled into it.

Software I've seen recommended by Web User is Never 10, which will check to see if Windows 10 is in danger of being installed and disable it

 Dont think any of these are compatible - think its only v21 upwards.  Check out the sage site.

Leger, I'll try this (ive heard of automatic updates)

Cheshire, I don't take much notice what Sage says, they only want users to keep on upgrading.

Hi Guilio
Are you reading the site on a mobile? If not then you should be able to see our actual, as opposed to our forum, names on the signature bar at the bottom of our posts, or of course you can check out our profiles.

Ignore the sage advice at your peril. You dont need to upgrade Sage, just dont upgrade windows. Ive seen some problems on sage one and sage v21 already, so if you are going to do without checking the info then make sure you undertake some very rigorous testing in the one month straight after so that you can revert back in case of need within the short window granted. Note though - Ive seen some horror stories when people have tried to revert (not sage related, just general PC related!)

I got a message on the works pc today that it will install on Thursday at 11pm. Well it won't as the pc isn't switched on at that time but I've cancelled the forced, I mean scheduled install anyway.  How arrogant of Microsoft though - it's U2 and Apple all over again no

Indeed.

Someone was telling me about his laptop today. It was a Windows 7 one, and he accepted the Win 10 install some time ago to try it out - and decided he didn't like it so rolled it back to Win 7.

However, the laptop has since updated to Windows 10 again, and he says he can't work out how to get it back to Windows 7, so basically shrugged his shoulders and has decided to keep 10.

I pointed out that by doing so he may as well drop his trousers and bend over for them - but since then I've thought about this, and my inner cynic (usually so well hidden) is wondering: is it possible that he can't find the roll back option because his computer still remembers the *first* time he let it onto his system; you only get a month to change your mind and say no - and more than a month has passed between that first installation and now.

That aside, though, IMO, if you install it and then decide to roll your computer back, that's a fairly significant "NO" being said
- does Microsoft not understand that simple word?

Anyway: only 67 more days, then this idiocy will be over - if Microsoft can be trusted to stick to their word.
