Quickbooks online - add company vat registration number
Permalink Closed

Hi does anybody use quickbooks online, and if so do you know how to add the vat registration number to an invoice please? I've google this and other people have said to add it to the customer message box or footer but it looks crap and can't even be highlighted in bold. Also I have these boxes filled with other info so it just wouldn't look right with a vat registration number dumped in the middle of the message. I'm sure the VAT reg no has to be show clearly on the invoice.

If anyone could give me any ideas that would be WONDERFUL

Thanks

rachel

Hi Rachel.

Presumably you've entered the VAT number into the program via the VAT tab?  I'm extremely surprised that this doesn't then appear on the invoice, as it is a legal requirement to display it.

What I would do is to add an extra line to the address with the VAT number as the last line, is that possible?  Here's a video that might help you with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcdN4bLKafg

Hi Rachel

I use QB Online and hope that I can help.

Have you entered the VAT Registration number in the VAT Settings? If you go to the VAT sidebar and click on 'Rates & Setting' , then 'VAT Settings' at the bottom. It seems that once you enter details in there it includes the VAT number at the top of an invoice, underneath the address (we have the custom settings for our invoices to include the company details etc)

I hope this helps

Sandy

Thanks for your help, I did have the vat number in the company settings but I missed a tick box somewhere no for it to show on the invoice, I spent hours looking for that! I just couldn't understand what I hadn't done. All sorted now though thanks.

I don't rate the invoicing on Quickbooks online, does anybody else? the invoice looks a bit cheapy and scew wift. I have a logo in the top left corner and the company address etc has gone in the middle and I can't align it to the right like a normal invoice would so it looks a bit rubbish confuse

Thanks very much for your help though

Hi Rachel

Have a look at Sliq Invoicing.  It's what I use for my invoices and the company I do admin for.  IMO quite professional looking and no silly tick box when you put the VAT No in smile

Its £41 + VAT I think but well worth it imo

You could just create your own template outside of the software, I do. Then just key them in in bulk, or via an import.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
