No, we just fill it in monthly when we add up all the sub-contractors invoices and pay them.
The company I work for currently pays between 5-10 sub-contractors per month though some of those sub-contractors can send us up to 10 invoices each per month.

I just do a monthly spreadsheet with the heading for the Month ending, then columns for Company/Individual; Invoice sum (less VAT); materials; labour; tax deducted; date payment made.
We only have employees on our payroll too. Boss doesn't like spending money so I've as yet been unable to convince him to upgrade. We are still working on Sage 50 2014 version which could do with upgrading.

Why? Why? Why? Sage 50 perpetual can last 7+years easily, so why would you upgrade, just for the sake of a couple of little tweaks each year (don't believe the hype sage spew!) some of the tweaks are very much backwards steps (eg the calc net being in a dumb place that slows down keying massively, and 'pay supplier' awkwardness of sage 2015 without mentioning a few other things).
I can't blame your boss for that one.....if you were paying the massive fat sage bill I reckon you would agree.
Payroll on the other hand....guess it depends what software you are using, I've got the CIS module for no extra cost, but it's one of those where you can way up the staff costs v software and it can become a no brainer. or pass it on to client by way of a licence fee, so it's not actually costing anything.
