Ok, so this probably seems a crazy idea but I am currently in the process of re-marketing and changing my business name.
For the past 10 years I have done bookkeeping work on a very casual basis while my 3 young children were all at home. With my youngest having just started school (sob sob), I am now in a position where I wish to grow the business and move in the direction which interests me. I am going to install a seperate business phone line in addition to website etc so a change of name at this stage would not be an issue as I will need to write to my current clients with change of contact details anyway.
I have been undertaking some additional training with regard to farm accounts as this is an area of interest and a good prospective market. The area in which I work is predominantly rural with the majority of businesses being rural based or serving rural clients and I would like my new name to reflect this specialism while still taking into account the other small businesses I may attract.
My first immediate choice which I still love is The Rural Bookkeeper which after a search I find is already taken. This bookkeeper is a great distance from me but does unfortunately have the co.uk domain.
Should I still move forward with this name since I am no threat to the current owner and would a .com domain be a problem or does anyone have any suggestions of any other names as I keep drawing a blank and nothing seems to work like my original idea.
Thanks in anticipation
Valerie

If you're somewhere rural down this way, you could play with the Wurzels lyrics and come up with a bookkeeping theme. OTTOMH, for example, "Oi've got a brand new rural bookkeeper..." - though, obviously, that example's using your first idea.
"Oi am a farm bookkeeper, oi keeps 'em all of the time..."
Joking (or was I?) aside, it's probably better NOT to make your name too specific to something.
Ahem. Just like it's better not to have a business called Soft Rock Software, and then provide bookkeeping services through it, so what do I know?
