I was under the impression that only one company name was allowed, whether be it Ltd or Limited, but I have discovered that my client has xxxx Ltd, and there is also a xxxx Limited.
It's possible that this has happened because my client used to be called xxxx/xxxx Ltd, but dropped the first name after selling one of the two cafe's she had. It was accepted at the time by Companies House though.

Years ago I seem to recall only one was accepted, but Ive seen more of what you have more recently. Its as if they have accepted there just arent enough names out there...which is ridiculous! Although Im still not convinced it should be happening but has managed to fall through the gaps at Co House!
One of mine is Limited and there is also a Ltd. Worst thing with that one is - despite putting Limited on documents, invoices etc, plus the registered and trading address, one of their customers has quoted Ltd and the Ltd's address, which is MILES away from my client, on some tax documents which has since caused bloody mayhem trying to get the tax back from the foreign tax body.
Oh and how confusing does that become when a Limited can call themselves Ltd (and not vice versa) but they didnt know about the other Ltd?!!!!!!!!
It does rather go against their rules of the name ''cant be the 'same as' or 'too like' an existing name'' rule!

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
