is it possible for forum member to delete his own thread ?
Permalink Closed

Hi guys

Sometimes I start topic that deals with exercises etc. Sometimes after I create new thread I manage to find the answer to the exercise on my own therefore I don't need people's help anymore and my thread becomes useless. Can I delete thread I started when this thread is not needed by anybody anymore ?

If nobody has answered your thread then yes. If people have taken the time to answer your question and then the thread was deleted then they would never answer another of your questions.

Remember that this site is a respource for all and all questions answered form part of the overall knowledge base.

kindest regards,

Shaun.

thanks Shaun for very wise advice. If I delete thread in future for some reason it is only going to be unanswered thread. I will never delete thread if somebody has already answered my question. In case I want to delete thread that was only started and there are no any answers on it, how can I do it ? Can you tell me what should I click etc ?

Sometimes you may find that threads are locked even though there are no comments in them. If that happens just add a comment in the thread requesting that it be removed and provided that I read it before a comment answering the original question is posted or indeed it sparks a discussion around that area then I will delete the thread.

You may have noticed that the one that you posted yesterday disappeared at the time that I posted the above.

HTH Rafal,

talk soon,

Shaun.

If you pose a question here and then find an answer elsewhere, what might be better than deleting the post is to reply to it yourself saying that you've found an answer - and if possible linking to it, for the benefit of anyone else searching for the same question in future.

Just a thought.
