Practice Management Software Ideas
Permalink Closed

Hi all... I currently use Excel to manage clients and various deadlines - VAT quarters, Conf Statements, CIS Returns, the list goes on! etc, etc. Not being an Excel guru there is an element of fire fighting and re-checking so I feel it would be a good idea to make my system a bit more bullet proof. If I can unload the dishwasher knowing I haven't forgotten anything then I'll be chuffed - simple life eh! Does anyone have any recommendations? I know of some PM software that incorporates SA, CT600, Accounts filing, the works, and some like Practice Flow that only runs the PM side (I believe). Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly absorbed. Many thanks

I did use a program called Glide last year on a trial, but I only used it once as I was busy at the time and the trial ran out.  It was only £8 +VAT at the time but it then shot up to £19 + VAT a month, so I never bothered.

Someone else recommended Practice Flow, that's £15 a month + VAT  https://www.practiceflow.co.uk   A very brief glance says it will do 100 companies and 250 individuals.  I think I''ll give it a trial myself once Tax Returns are out of the way.

Thanks and I've looked at Glide also, but not tried a trial. It seems expensive compared to Practice Flow. I'm thinking of trialling BTC Software although it seems expensive it looks like it covers off a lot more than just a CRM/reminder system? Mike

Depends if you want a stand alone PM system or something that is integrated with your accounts/tax software.

We use IRIS and use the accounts production, personal tax, business tax, fixed register, time and fees, automail and practice management modules.  It is expensive (our biggest monthly outlay after wages), but it pays for itself in the time it saves with everything being integrated.  We also know where all the jobs are at any time plus we have bespoke job trackers set up for things like adding a new client.  We probably have about a dozen different job trackers including accounts, annual returns, corporate tax returns, personal tax returns, payroll, VAT returns, management accounts, bookkeeping, autoenrolment plus some others.

Other software that operates like this includes Digita and BTC.

If you want a best of breed then you might want to look at some cloud offerings such as glide (which is mentioned above) or Senta.  They seem to be PM software geared to accountants.

Thanks Mark, some I haven't heard of there. Time for some free trials I think.
