ACCA teaching job available in Chongqing, China (February 2017 start)
Permalink Closed

Hi folks,

I am a British ICAS qualified accountant who has spent the last 3 years working in China as an ACCA lecturer.

I now wish to leave at short notice, but this is placing my employer in a difficult predicament, namely finding

a replacement teacher at short notice. Therefore, I'm desperately trying to find any fluent English speakers with

suitable accounting qualifications who might be interesting in taking my job.

Location: 4 days per week in Chongqing, 1 day per week in Chengdu. 2 hour train journey between cities.

Subject: ACCA F2 (Management Accounting) and F4 (Business Law)

Teaching hours: 32 hours per week. 384 hours per semester. 12-16 weeks per semester.

2 semesters per year. The rest of the time is paid holiday. Some exam marking is required during holidays.

Students: University students, finance/accounting majors.

Employer: KBF China (www.kfonline.com.cn)

Start date: 20 February 2017

No teaching experience necessary but must be a fluent English speaker with ACCA or similar finance/accounting qualification

(e.g. ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA). Requires someone who is good at explaining key accounting (and legal) concepts simply and clearly.

No Chinese language skills required, although I have found it helps to speak a little Chinese, as the students' English skills vary.

Teaching materials are provided, but lecturers are encouraged to prepare their own teaching aids (e.g. Powerpoint presentations)

and to teach in a style which suits them. Plenty of past exam materials are available to identify key syllabus areas.

My employer KBF China is an accountancy/finance training provider which has teaching contracts with over 30 universities in

China and over 5,000 students. More information here: http://kfonline.com.cn/about.aspx?mid=17&site=17

The company will help arrange the required work VISA/residence permits for foreigners working in China, and will pay the related fees.

If anybody is at all interested, please contact me with any questions, or I can put you directly in contact with my employer.

I'm not placing any contact links here because I'm worried about spam.

Kind regards,

Ed Singleton

Hi Ed
Handy hint - set your profile to allow 'PM' - private messaging so that people can send any messages direct to you but will not know your email address (avoids the whole spam thing, but check your spam box for any that may start to come through).

Another suggestion as we do not have many ACCA qualified peeps on here (some yes, but not in great numbers) - how about posting on Accounting Web too, if you havent already.

Sounds very much like you do! So are you back to these lovely shores or going elsewhere in this world?

Would like to visit China, my brother lived there for a while - some of the scenery looks absolutely stunning and completely out of this world (almost)

Yes, the plan is to come back to Britain and go into industry.

China's an amazing place, and I've only seen a tiny part of it. It's a shame it's been a bit too grey and smoggy recently, and getting worse every year. If they could get the air pollution sorted, it would be wonderful, but that's no easy fix.

I've had fun the last few years, but missing family, and planning to have a child, the long term plan is (hopefully) to settle down in the UK.

Japan's also great. If I were to recommend a holiday destination, I'd slightly favour Japan over China. It's cleaner, a bit more colourful, and the tourist sights are much less crowded.

That said, they're very different countries so it's not a fair comparison. Also, my wife is Chinese, and she's brilliant, so it was definitely worth the trip for me!

Poster has not been on since Dec 2016, but might be back if they get email notifications for their posts, besides I suspect he has already left China fromn the words in his post.

You would need ACCA qualification to teach it.

There is a link for the company, which has contacts on it - try that.
