NEW YEAR RES
Permalink Closed

Well now that was a year I will be glad to see the back of for various reasons and as such to have a successful 2017 more resolutions need to be made which I thought I would share with you. Don't be shy feel free to share yours too as I might want to nick a few.

HAPPY NEW YEAR BKNers.

My New Years resolution is 1080p

My new year's resolution is to be more optimistic by keeping my cup half-full with either rum, vodka, or whiskey and to remember that although a lot of things can be preserved through alcohol your dignity is not one of them nonono

My new years resolution is to get better at pretending to know the words to Auld Lang Syne. biggrin

New Years Eve, when auld acquaintances be forgot. Unless, of course, those tests come back positive. biggrinbiggrin

This New Years Im going to make a resolution I can keep: no dieting all year long

To save myself 6 hours I will be getting rid of all my clocks before the start of British Summer time biggrin (bet that one has you thinking)

Have a good one and if you are revelling this evening keep safe. HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dave

Happy New Year one and all.

Happy new year peeps.  No new year resolutions from me, although Dave's post did make me chuckle.

I was watching a facebook video this morning of one of my friend's 8 year old daughter doing her first live posting. (obviously posted new years eve) in which she was asking what peoples new year revolutions were.  Her mum corrected her saying, it's resolutions.  Yeah, but revolutions sounds better, she replied.

Whose revolting?

Lol

Defo have a resolution, not doing responses to the ones who can't be arsed saying thank you on here.

I'm keeping a log, although I notice one newbie who has a black mark against them after a long response I did, yet they managed to say thanks to someone else, so it's not like they don't know their manners, just choose to forget them some of the time.

Up the resolution. Or is that up the revolution? Oops don't think that's the right quote neither.

Are you thinking Citizen Smith?

Your right Jo, the words thank you are so easy to say and yet very seldom used nowadays. I recently sent a few emails saying thank to one organisation and wishing them a happy Christmas and New Year to receive only one reply. You have to remember though Jo that people are far too busy now putting pictures of their dinners on Facebook lol.

Citizen Smith had the right idea, power to the revolution John!

Happy New Year
Dave

lol on the Facebook thing - you are so right Dave. Although a while back on a Facebook group Im on, someone put a request to say please and thank you on there and a woman said 'Im off, out of this group, cant believe a bunch of grown ups would complain about not saying please and thank you'. Stunned I was. Clearly has her head plonked on her body the wrong way. Loved the response she got from one person which just said 'bye'.

On the Citizen Smith thing John - I was thinking of him, plus War and Peace which was on tv recently, plus a bunch of other stuff. It was, in my defence, my first day of the Christmas break of getting properly pished - and on the Baileys and Cappucino liqueur at that! OoO I think I fancy a few now - might help with the work piles. What do you reckon?

Have a good evening boys  biggrinbiggrin

This is the first Christmas/New Year I haven't got pished!! Tipsy, but not pished, and I had a bottle of vodka, southern comfort, martini,  lambrini and two bottles of cheap stuff I bought from Aldi (which I think is their version of Malibu, and is actually quite nice)  in the house, so no excuse.  The southern comfort has taken the most hammering, but I've still got half a bottle left.  I'm putting it down to being old

Know what you mean about the age thing - takes far too long to recover. Lol on the bottles! I was emptying a box to give to my son for his house move and found about 8 bottles of wine in it from last year! Lovely jubbly - for use on 8 February (or midnight on 7th as the last VAT return is done!)

Arrhh The Demon Booze, it has never really agreed with me, turn into an idiot when pished as some of my earlier posts with Brian from Ideal Schools would testify in the days when I was obsessed (May I add Brian is actually a very nice man but was my nemesis as I got paid on commission so we had a conflict of interest. Sorry Bri) I try not to drink too much now as I always get into trouble.

On the Facebook thing, you can go live on Facebook now so how long before we get a murder streamed live or other depravity? The world really has gone mad. I still say Social Media is the invention of the devil and should only be used for business.

On a serious note Dave, I think, as with most things in life, facebook and the like can be used for both positive and negative things, but the positivity I see is incredible.  I am a member of a few local groups and there's a big community spirit on them.  A recent example being a homeless man sleeping rough  near a supermarket, who had injured himself so couldn't get off the floor (it was a rainy day) and lots of people offered help and support and he was able to be moved into temporary accommodation.  It just so happened someone had seen him there and posted it on facebook.

By contrast I was extremely shocked by a recent case in America, of a person with special needs kidnapped and then filmed live being tortured by a gang of four, so your comment is very relevant.

Morning John

Yes I have just seen the news about that gang of four, I was oblivious to it when I made my post. Of course I can see the positives and its great when you see stories as first described. My children have been on the receiving end of Facebook trolls I think their called and I just find it all a bit OTT.

Never really been a lover of Social Media as the written word is always open to interpretation. And now we can stream live pictures!

Acts of random kindness is a beautiful thing and I could watch that kind of thing all day long as it puts faith back in human nature. We just live in a world now where nearly everything is corrupt non more so than the Governments who are supposed to be squeaky clean. Trump election scandal, the British expenses scandal, Russian STATE RUN cheating sporting bodies it goes on and on.

I think Social Media has made us all ME ME ME, its all about ME, look at Me eating my dinner, look at Me walking down the road, look at me on holiday, look at ME ME ME. I will never be a lover of it.

On that note Me, Myself and I need to take the dog for a walk, and this will be streamed live on www. LOL

Enjoy your weekend John.

I was just enjoying the dodgy music and cute dog photos from John (thanks) when Mr C spoilt it with toilet humour!!!!! Although - your poor dog....waiting from Christmas to 8 January!!!!!

To avoid trolley wars - dont go on a weekend and always get there as they are about to open. What is it with the WHOLE family going food shopping? Why cant just one of the parents go and leave the rest of the family at home?!!!

Yes John it looks like Jo Jo has a new career waiting for her if Bookkeeping ever gets too much, we have taught her well.

I used to have a Mexican girlfriend, sadly she died. I was hearing voices telling me Tequila :)
