Wow! Sage Instant with 1.3 million transactions and counting!
Permalink Closed

Hi All,

I'm blown away. Over the weekend I had contact with a client who is using Sage Instant Accounts Plus 2014 (v20) with a last transaction number of 1,313,753! jawdrop.gif

Biggest I've ever come across (I  think). I had to look twice at the screen and count the digits to make sure I wasn't seeing things (Sage show it as 1313753).

Apparently all generated over a three year period, and still usable (how, I'm not sure confuse). Unsurprisingly, they are looking to move to something more appropriate to those sorts of data volumes.  thumbsup.gif

Just thought I'd share. I know, I'm an anorak.

Regards,

Bear in mind that the last transaction number is NOT an indication of the number of transactions.

Unless this has changed in recent versions, when any old data is purged the existing transaction numbers are retained - so the first transaction number might (for a random example) be 998,276 and there could be gaps in the first however many transaction numbers before it settles down into the period the data covers.

On the other hand, you'd know that, so I guess this isn't the case here and it really is 1.3 million transactions!

In which case: Eeeeek!

Good point Vince. I did ask. So far as the member of staff I was talking to knew, there'd never been any archiving since go live 3 or 4 years ago.

In a flash of inspiration, I decided to add a transaction counter into our software. If I have any further contact with them, I'll ask them to tell me what it says and report back. biggrin

Regards,
