Will Sage just go away and die

Anyone else being spammed by calls from Sage at the moment.... They even start the telephone call with.. "We know that you are probably busy at the moment"...

Well, yes, yes we are and we don't appreciate gettting sales calls at the crack of dawn on a damn Saturday in mid January.

Page one, paragraph one of the basic guide to CRM... Don't p*ss off the potential customer (not that I ever was anyway).

And talking of such things. Working with a  client at the moment who not only has their ERP system in the cloud but also their damn desktops are virtual (accessed through Citrix).... Building complex Excel/SQL models is like pulling teeth.

Many years ago I used Lotus 1-2-3 from a really old PC with twin 5&1/4 inch floppies and RAM measured in K rather than G... I dream of the speed that I got from that old system compared to using the cloud!... Advance... Bah humbug.

Right, I'm up now so best start working again. Hope that you're all having fun people.

It's very unlikely in the extreme that Sage will ever ring me with a sales call.

Every once in a while on this forum I mention a little disagreement I had with Sage a few years ago, citing it as the reason I will only ever purchase anything from them in the future if I can't avoid it. That disagreement was about them sending me emails that I considered spam - most notably because in my 'account' with them, I had all the "I don't want any marketing crap" boxes ticked.

More details here: misc.vinceh.com/2012/10/sage-joins-ranks-of-spammers/

And the outcome here: misc.vinceh.com/2013/03/replies-from-ico-sage-findmypast/

What annoyed me even more is that the emails they sent was actually done through third party email marketing outfits - and several years later I received a small number of completely unrelated junk emails to that address. This latter point is significant because the address I used for Sage was unique *to* Sage - so the only people that had it were me, them, and the third party they used. If memory serves, in fact, at least one of those junk emails contained malware.

What did you say? Crack of dawn? Stays dark in your neck of the woods for a long time in the morning!

Typical....try for a seconds extra sleep and some loser telephones you or knocks on your door

Ahh, that would be a dawn relative to the time that I stopped working. At the moment hearing birds singing outside means that it must be time to go to bed.... Hearing the post beingdelived means that I may have missed the first "go to bed" alarm. lol.

Right, now what to do first today... (today being defined as all time between getting up and going to bed, not the traditional time based system).

Have a good one.

Laters.

Unfortunately I'm stuck with Sage for Payroll as it was the software the accountant asked us to use.

The calls we get are trying to sell add ons such as the Pensions Module. But our pension company prefers us to transfer data directly into their own website. I just act thick and say our accountant deals with it all. We tried their accounting invoicing package and my boss hated it & went back to manual accounts. (Yes manual, the most exciting we get is an excel spreadsheet amongst all her ringbinders!)

Hi Julie
The Accountant asked you to use Sage Payroll!!!!!???!!!!! How much is that costing you? Whilst Im a fan (mostly) and user of Sage, I would not touch their payroll products. Especially when you can get Moneysoft at next to nothing price wise and it does just as good a job (if not better). Iris and Sage payroll - nope! Plus why on earth would you need an add on for the pensions - cheeky buggars.

I never get calls from Sage. Where are my call? lol. Ive become pretty adept at getting rid of such 'sales' calls these days to the point where I get all the sales calls for one of my clients and I have such fun with the call handlers, although because Ive had such fun with them over the last 3-4 months, the calls are dropping off!

Yes, limited company, approx 30 employees. We use Sage Payroll Line 50. To be honest now its set up after the initial teething troubles which is what led me to this forum in the first place as we went from manual payroll using those big PAYE card sheets for everyone to Sage on the introduction of RTI, I find it quite easy to use most of the time.
