Self - employed bookkeeping services
Permalink Closed

Hello all! :) I am Tatiana, I have completed all AAT levels, now I am an AAT associate bookkeeping member. I do not have any relevant work experience, and have been trying to find a job but unfortunately because of lack of experience and my full time availability , I have not been given the chance to prove that I am capable, which is understandable. I have a Master's degree in Accounts , but again this is nothing without work experience, the culture where I come from is based more on studying first, and focus on this first and then get a job, which I would definitely change now, but there is no time for regrets only for looking for solutions. my goals are to become a MAAT member and then go further with ACCA. I have decided to start to offer self-employed bookkeeping services. The following days I am going to register as a self employed , with Money laundering regulations and get the Public liability insurance. I have 2 potential clients, one is a self employed driving instructor, and the second one is a limited company registered under the construction industry scheme. They would like me to do everything for them , from recording invoices to final accounts and tax returns. My query would be what software/ softwares do you recommend to start with ? And of course any other advice is more than welcome. Thank you very much for your time and sorry for my novel. Regards Tatiana

Welcome. I'd check what services you can offer being a AAT Bookkeeper - Tax, other than indirect, as far as I know, is forbidden.

Thank you for your reply! I would like to specify that I am not an AAT licensed bookkeeper, I can not apply for a licence as long as I do not have at least 6 months of experience , so basically I would be by myself. Once I completed Level 4 I have been transferred to AATQB membership.

Note that if you move on to do ACCA you cannot go beyond Trial Balance, no matter what your other memberships allow you to do. Sanctions from the ACCA for doing so are pretty harsh.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
