VOIP phone systems
Permalink Closed

Hi

I wondered if anyone had any experience of VOIP phone systems.  Working from home, I have always used my home phone no but I am trying to address the work/life balance and feel like an additional phone line may avoid the calls at unsociable hours.

I have looked at an additional BT line but this is costly.  Mobile not really an option as signal very poor and I feel perhaps a mobile phone no doesn't look as professional.  So this brought me to looking at the VOIP systems.

I would appreciate anyones experiences, advantages/disadvantages or recommendations as it does appear to be a minefield.

Many thanks

Valerie

Hi Valerie

I currently have a voip number attached to my mobile, and will be using it as my main business number from March. Before that though I will be purchasing a proper viop phone in my office as my phone software (voiper) can be a bit hit and miss.

I would recommend voipfone as your provider, very reliable and only costs £2 + VAT a month plus landliine calls at roughly a penny a minute (mobile calls  I think are around 10p a minute)

It goes without saying that if the internet goes down so does the voip, so think about having a 3 or 4g dongle backup on your router.

Hi,

I would recommend you to go for Avaya products. Avaya offers numerous products with the affordable price and their service is extremely good I have self experienced it.

If we were going to go with a Santa Clara based company we would choose a better one that that and one which can service the UK!

I never use the land-line in my house. It rings, but it's never for me.

I'm more like Gordon Gekko, mobile in one hand, sandwich in the other.

I would say I hope that you don't end up talking to the wrong hand but I feel that sometimes I find that I get more sense out of my sandwich than the people on the phone!
