Sage Nominal for a Ltd Companies Investment into something
Permalink Closed

Hi

This is my first time posting on here, so please be gentle with me no

I have a list of opening balances to enter from an accountant, and from what I can gather the Ltd Company itself has made an investment.  Not a loan, an actual investment.  But I have not been given any further information.

Would you think this should be put under?  Presumably the investment will grow, so am not sure where it would go?

Many thanks in advance.

Caspar

Hi Casper
So hows about an intro before we start. We always ask newbies!

Usual stuff - what prof body you belong to, do you work for yourself or in a practice/ firm, are you a bookkeeper or accountant, what qualifications, how long in role, where up to in your studies-what exams passed/with what body/in midst of doing, where based, what you did before this role? That so of thing. Helps get to know you but also how best to pitch answers.

Also - when asking for a technical response about software then always best to add the type of software (in this case, is it sage one, essentials, 50 (and which type of sage 50, 200 etc) and then which version (year, or v20..... or such).

Hello

Thanks for getting in touch.  I am AAT FMAAT and a stand alone accountant working in practice for the last 10 years or so.  But it doesn't matter how many years you do something, something always comes up that you haven't done before doesn't it!  I tend to work mainly with the self employed but have some Ltd Companies on my books.  I also sometimes just provide the book-keeping and VAT work for other accountants, or even stand alone payroll and Auto Enrolment clients.

My hobbies are sewing, dressmaking and hand embroidery, reading and caravanning - but not necessarily all at the same time.

I am working on Sage L50 and am thinking along the lines of putting this investment along with assets such as 0070 nominal code?  But just wanted to double check with someone else to see what their thoughts were.

Many thanks

Well welcome to the forum.

Can you bob your first name under the signature line (via edit profile) or we will be calling you 'oi you'.

Do you know exactly what the investment was in? I would be asking the Accountant who has dealt with it for more detail (as well as your client) to be honest. Some Accountants throw things in with no explanation and Im convinced they do it just to see if they get a query or not. Failing that shove it where you suggested as at least it will stick out when they do their stuff next year!
