I've a few questions I'd like to ask, feel free to firstly answer mine, then ask your own :)
#1 GDP growth - is there a base year or is it on a quarter by quarter calculation? For example Q2 is up 0.7% can I assume that it is up 0.7% on Q1? The ONS graph looks 'almost' linear so....
#2 Stock market closing - eg Market has closed up 150 points. What does that mean? What is a point?
#3 During 1998 my paper round paid £10.50 (true story) how can I see today's relative value? Can or use RPI, (I know that's a basket full of food) or manipulate inflation?
#4 I own 100 shares in Berkshire Hathaway (Imagine that!) how do I give them, officially, to my daughter? I understand the tax treatment, but how do they pass from name to name? A Ltd would fill and file a transfer form, is the same true for a quoted?
#5 Debentures- issued by a company. I'll assume that's a guarantee for cash received, company will pay interest for X years then fully repay the capital?
Random, yet it's bank holiday.
Thank you :)
