Currently I have a large amount of Credit Card payments that I have been unable to allocate sat in the miscellaneous account as I cannot allocate to the correct nominal code due to missing statements. I have asked the client for the statements and I have been provided with some along with some receipts but not enough to cover everything. I requested additional information but my client cannot find the rest of the information so I have been advised that whatever there isn't a receipt or statement for to allocate to a certain account. I don't want to do that as I feel that everything should be accounted for correctly.
Tell him to order copy statements from the credit card company (no excuse not to) and then he can try again to get the receipts and if they still cant find the receipts dump it all to the DLA/drawings account.

He'd love that wouldn't he :) Thats kind of the point. Focusses their mind. Did you see my post the pther day about the 14-18 Explorer Scouts I am involved with......no receipt for the 49p milk they bought then no refund. They soon learn!!!!!!
I spend half of my time chasing paperwork for this client. Its a loosing battle. I am still trying to allocate cheques from April 2016! I was just about to throw the towel in with all my clients due to me having to constantly babysit them and wipe their backsides but Im now realising that Ive whipped most of them into shape as none of them now have stuff that old outstanding. Get in touch with your inner Rottweiler! Works a treat. Although Im still thinking of packing it all in!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't see your post but you're right. Sometimes you just have to be tough and I think i've been too lenient with this Client. Its get to the point where I end up obtaining the paperwork myself. Maybe I have done too much and they expect it from me now?

As a bit of a side rant, I'm getting really sick of constantly chasing clients for records! Why do they pay us to provide a service for them but only give in half-arsed records, and then complain about how long it takes to piece together nonsense and don't like the assumptions we have to make. Sigh!!!
I really don't understand this attitude that you can just put anything on a credit card and it go through the business. Don't people understand the basics?
Back in the day when I was self employed if there was anything I didn't have a receipt for I just automatically put it as drawings. Wouldn't have occurred to me otherwise. And I used to make a note on certain receipts that could be seen as unusual as to exactly what they were for (30 pairs of legwarmers from the local market or 15 polka dot tops from Primark!)
Never mind, at least if any of Joanne's scouts become entrepreneurs in the future they will be well trained.

Fantastic - the future generation!
The legwarmers were actually part of a costume for an excerpt from Cats the kids were performing. They wore them on their arms and legs. I've still got most of the stuff up in my loft.
Good thing I know it was a dance school, otherwise I would have a very funny image in my head of you at a clients, doing the books in your legwarmers.
