MTD and Pandle accounting

Going forward with MTD the new nightmare, has anyone had anything to do with Pandle cloud accounting which appears to be free.  I have used Xero but I have a client who really does not want to spend money on a monthly contract, in fact they just don't like spending money full stop!!!!!

"Going forward with MTD the new nightmare"

That opening, leading into seeking opinions on a cloudy package, leads me to infer that you and/or the client are making the mistake that MTD brings with it a requirement to use cloud. It doesn't - it's a misunderstanding that some cloud providers have tried to capitalise on.

So if the client doesn't want to sign up to a monthly contract (and who can blame them, really), would a desktop package under a perpetual licence be a more appropriate option?

Hi Roz

It's the first time I've heard of them, will have to have a play when I get time.

Other software possibly worth considering is Quickfile, which has a good rep.  Wave Accounting which I noticed the other day I'd downloaded but did naff all with, Nomisma, which I've never tried but was developed by accountants (as is Pandle apparently) and Capium, that I've had a very brief play with.

Who's doing the inputting, you or the client, and  does he even need cloud accounting?

Where do they find these brand names from? I suppose at least the domain name would have been available.

Sorry Vince, I'm a really slow typer, your post wasn't there when I hit reply!   (I've had it open on my desktop at least half hour)

I'm sure I must have done the same before now, John.

Johnny: Business and brand names can be quite interesting. Something I used to ask clients is where their trading name came from (if it wasn't obvious) - but it's not something I've bothered doing for many years now. All but one of mine at the moment are obvious (such as a name reflecting what they do, or based on their location or the founders' names) - I'll make a point of asking the non-obvious one when I next speak to them, now that I've thought about it.

A key consideration these days, of course, is ensuring you have something suitably unique for the purposes of getting a domain name - uniqueness is easier the longer you make your trading/brand name, but ideally you want something short and sharp. Which is why there are so many deliberate misspellings in such things these days.

Quite.

What do they use now?

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
