Are you allowed to use Google or is that cheating ??
Thought I would attempt the quiz because the cricket aint going to well !!
That's cheating lol. Will be going home about half oneish to catch the last hour or so of the innings but haven't looked at the score (oops 65/6 after 16 overs, that's not good) I may not get to see that last hour after all!!
Joanne, obviously the reason for the delay then, glad to have helped

1. Which newspaper was shut down in 2011, following the scandal over phone hacking?
Wishful thinking: All of them.
2. Which English football team has always been in the top division post world war two?
Sport. Ugh.
3. What is Percy Shaw famous for?
Being the subject of a quiz question.
4. Tony Warren was the creator of which long running TV programme.
Bagpuss! (Huuuge number of episodes, that one!)
5. New York was formerly known as?
I didn't realise York was its married name!
I didn't even realise it was married!
6. What emblem is on the Canadian flag?
The Star Trek 'flash' superimposed on a swastika!
7. Name the TV programme that featured Little Weed
"How to cultivate your own marijuana in three easy steps"
8: Which question is missing?
This one!
9. Which is the only muscle in the human body that requires no support from the skeleton?
The one I've just eaten!
(This is a lie - I don't like them! And, yes, I know they're "mussels" not "muscles" ;)
10. In which religion is the cow considered to be sacred?
The Sacred Order of the Holy Bovine!
11. MCMLXVIII relates to which year?
One that was 3,985 years ago - you forgot the minus sign, or to add 'BCE' ;)
12. What does GPS stand for?
Ah, the good old Grappling Plank School, where they teach you how to use planks of wood instead of grappling hooks.
13. Currently in the news, which country was formerly known as Ceylon?
Country? I thought they were a race of robots! By the way, you've spelt Cylon incorrectly ;)
14. Britain will be leaving the European Union within the next two years, but when did we join?
Some time after the next two years, when the 52% who wanted us to leave have realised they've made a booboo and begged for the EU to let us join again. I can use past tense for that because I fully understand the grammar of time travel.
(bonus point if you can say what it was known by at that time)
I'm pretty sure it was called Britain.

The one after Connery's penultimate portrayal of Bond! ;)

A car bobble hat.

You didn't say which season of the Royle Family, so I'm going to assume you meant the last, and say the first series of Royle Family!
19. Name the longest river in the UK
Ernest Seville.
20. Heartbeat is a TV series about a rural policeman and his colleagues, where was it filmed primarily?
On location.

Joanne got them all right, apart from Q9 (but see below) and the bonus question which she passed on, so well done you. Well done to Vince, not for giving his usual pedantic answers (although some did amuse me) but for stating the European Economic Union as the bonus answer on Q14. The answer I had was the Common Market, but EEU is more accurate.
There is a No. 8 when counting numbers? I wish someone had told me Aagh I never spotted that boo boo.
The answer to 19 is The Severn, but I was reading up on the Churn Tributary, so I can see where you're coming from Joanne. What is the Thamas by the way?
Q9 I had as the tongue, but I'm wondering if heart applies? I googled it and it says a muscular organ, so what does everyone think?

What do I win? Is it your turn to bake cakes for me John? Cant believe you have never heard of the River Thamas, especially with it being so long!!!!! I think I even had my glasses on when typing that, but after yesterdays other faux pas I really should learn to proof read and spell check my posts instead of just trying to type fast and move on! Agree on the heart, I sort of knew it might be wrong when I popped it on there, but couldnt think of anything else.
(Not proof read. Already late for my first meeting! )
