Last Meal
Permalink Closed

Hi all

Nothing to do with work or bookkeeping but was watching something about death row prisoners today and it got me thinking what would be my final request as a last meal, came up with quite a few ideas but finally settled on Roast Beef, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds, veg and of course English mustard (Kebab close 2nd)

So seeing as its been a bit quiet on the forum I thought others might want to share their thoughts on what their choice of last meal might be

I've often wondered if folk actually eat it. For me, I'd be petrified of knowing what is coming.

That being said, pizza and copious amounts of beer- but I guess that's not allowed!

 Hi Johnny

Good point, it never occurred to me that I would be to scared to eat!

Oh that involves a decision and I can't make decisions. A big pile of Chocolate. Is that allowed? Ok on a day like today has to be a BBQ. Just prepping now for a BBQ party for Father's Day later as it happens.

I couldn't be a chef!!! All that chopping and creativity to be eaten in five seconds flat!!

(150 views so far and so few responses!! Disappointing so many people don't say ANYTHING!!)

It would have to be my favourite meal, which is bubbly chicken and Jacket potato.

Bubbly chicken is in reality 1/4lb Birds Eye Chicken Burgers and I absolutely love them.  They have a bubbly texture on the outside that melt in your mouth.

Whether I'd be able to eat it, knowing death is just round the corner, is a different matter.

I take Joannes point but feel that the idea of any of us ending up on death row seems a little too far fetched to consider which is why there have been few responses.

Lets perhaps extend this and forget the idea of being on death row but rather simply living the day as though it were the last day of your life.

That of course also brings location into the mix.

To me food doesn't actually matter so much. I have a comodity view of it in that it's there to keep us alive but I couldn't say that I would ever get excited about it. However, food suitable to the location...

Sitting in a thatched hut open on all sides, at sunset, looking out across the paddy fields in North east Thailand. There wouldn't be so much as a pylon or telegraph pole to view in any direction to indicate which century you are in. The meal would be Som Tam made with freshly picked Pappaya's, a large roasted fish, sticky rice and a few Chang beer's to wash it down.... Oh, and you would have absolutely no idea that it was going to be your last day.

Call me a cynic but don't think even extending the point out will make any difference with the reading none contributors of this site. But always happy to be proved wrong....maybe some will like that as a challenge just to prove me wrong.

I once dated a guy who had lost his sense of smell when he fell from some ladders-for him food was absolutely a necessity and never an enjoyment, as he couldnt taste it at all.

Sounds like the retirement to Thailand is still on plan.

 Hi Shaun

Understand what you are saying about the death row bit, but was only using this as a link to naming our favourite foods not suggesting any of us would end up there, however there are some serious consequences for not having MLR!!

Lol Doug... Prison yes for MLR... But death row!... I know that it was brought in under anti terrorist legislation but still.

Now, for killing clients for not providing documentation.... Maybe!

well, it's not off plan but wouldn't say that it's about to happen anytime soon... There's my boy doing his BSc. Me about to start an MSc. Soooo much expenditure... Think I need to be thinking about working back in banking in the city again let alone chilling in Thailand no

Anyway, unless we get a dedicated lear jet to make the deliveries your cakes would be off by the time that they got to me so it's a non starter really isn't it!

For me it would have to be steak with jacket potato and sour cream finished off with a large Belgian chocolate profiterol. No need to worry about the diet and cholesterol

Loving the securicor plane John and could do with that for the UK deliveries in this weather as the icing is melting!! idea.gif

Doug - sorry it was me who ate the cakes this time round!  Well I put the order in for the lear jet and would you know there is a waiting list - apparantly someone called Shamus is before me in the queue!!weirdface.gif

PS - Shaun if you go back into banking you wont have the time for your MSc!   confuse  Im now imagining you down the corridor from your boy in the halls of residence of some Uni, partying!!!!
