Another recent thread on networking (in particular BNI) has made me think again about networking and peoples general fear of it. Some time ago I watched a lecture by Susan Cain which I think that we all should watch. It's not about networking but rather about becoming happy with who you are and not attempting to be something that you are not.
It's no great revelation that I am not shy by any stretch of the imagination. I have absolutely no fear of others approval or not as I'm quite happy with myself so others opinions are of little consequence.... However, what may surprise some is that I am very much an introvert in that I work and think best in my own company rather than seeking the approval of others. This video actually helped me understand my own drivers and realise that a lot of people share the same mindset that we do not need to be extroverts but we do need to be comfortable in the way that we work and interact.
I won't say more but leave it to this excellent TED talk by Susan Cain. Hope that it helps prepare you for networking.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

"The links didn't work, but I did get to he vids.....just knocked off the last part with the % and numbers bit. Might just be my PC!"
What happened there was Shaun posted links that took you to a specific point in the video - so the time was appended to the page address as an argument or parameter. You will often see this done where ?<somestuff> is at the end of the address - the ? means what follows is a list of arguments - and they'll take the form ?this=wibble;that=wobble
'this' and 'that' are like named boxes, that the page can open, read, and act on. 'wibble' and 'wobble' are what was put in those boxes as part of the address.
In the case of the TED website, they use the # character instead of the ? and, it appears, - instead of =
When you clicked on the link, the # (which would normally be used to denote an anchor within a page - look at the 'permalink' to any post on this forum for example) was encoded as "%23" - so #t-760449 became %23t-760449 and it all went pear shaped.
By deleting the %23 and everything that followed, you went to the right page, but with no extra information - so you started the video at the very beginning, rather than the point in time in the video Shaun actually linked to.
If you try visiting the page from Shaun's link again, and just changed the %23 in browser's address bar to # you'll start it at the point Shaun linked.
i.e. there's nothing wrong with your computer - it's just a peculiarity of encoding and the way the TED site is set up.
