Taxfiler Deleting a client
Permalink Closed

Hi all

I subscribed to Taxfiler over weekend and as you do was just having a play by inputting made up accounts and information, now I have got a basic idea of what I am doing I have been trying to delete the client and all the information I have input but cant seem to find how to go about doing this.

I know from previous posts that quite a few others use Taxfiler, and that it is probably something quite simple that I am missing but if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Cheers

Hi Doug
Generally taxfiler dont give you this option - its there to protect their numbers game mostly. I have done it as I did the same as you, but cannot recall how and not got taxfiler in front of me at the mo. But have a look at this.....

Hi Joanne, thanks for the reply

Read the link but no I don't have a tab for Archive/Delete but it does say not everyone has access to it so I may have to get in touch with them.

Do you know if I was to leave the client information on there but not file the return(which I cant as I made them up) will this still count as 1 of the 50 I am allowed during the year??

Cheers

More than likely they will count towards your total, Doug.  Just to let you know that I have the same problem, two dummy accounts that I tried and now can't get rid of them.  If you upgrade to the unlimited version you can delete them.

Ive not tried this - can you get rid of the information that you have saved in it? Then you can use it as a 'test' case for future scenarios? I do this with other software but not tried it on Taxfiler.

As I understand it - the one you have created counts towards your allowance.

Maybe we should feed back the need for a test client? Moneysoft have that facility dont they!

Hi John

So when it says I get 50 per year what would happen next year if 10 were no longer clients of mine do I still have to keep them on my books?? And only be able to file 40?

I've not really thought about it Doug, but this year I'm adding my SA clients so the list wil grow.  Not sure about you but I would still want to keep the ex clients filing stuff just in case of a query.  The unlimited version is £18 a month so still doesn't break the bank.

Added:  Hi Joanne, I think there's is bits you can delete, but not sure which bits.

Getting up to 50 clients is wishful thinking on my part at the moment, although the reason I got Taxfiler is that I want to take on a Ltd Co soon so thought I would get some practice in.

Good point about keeping ex clients filing stuff though, I have never had to think about that before as I was using HMRC to file the information it is always available and I would just download their Returns to their folder.

You can download returns etc from Taxfiler and would always suggest that as a backup as you go, rather than perhaps waiting until you move products for example when you might have hundreds to do at once.

Agreed Joanne, and although I do download copies of the accounts and tax returns, it's just peace of mind imo.
