Scanning solution
Permalink Closed

Afternoon all,

I work for a good size SME who currently use SAGE50. They would like to move to Cloud based software so we are looking into sage live/ sage accounting etc. Issue is they cant do CIS.

The main criteria we require is :

  • Scanning solution
  • CIS
  • Multi user
  • high volume transactions (around 2000 purchase inv per month )

I use sage one, sage 50 , xero and QBO for my clients but don't use scanning software for any yet so although I've heard of ix500 but Im not sure of volume etc so wouldn't want to move them from sage50 to any of the cloud based software's until I'm happy it would cope.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Nicola

Although your subject line says "scanning solution", your opening paragraph reads to me as though you really want to know what cloudy software understands CIS. (Given the number of plug-ins or add-ons - or whatever they call them - for Xero, is there not one for that?)

And because "scanning solution" is your first bullet point, it sounds like you might be asking for suggestions for a cloudy package that offers (or supports) a suitable scanning approach to inputting. (As well as CIS, as above).

So you have perhaps not been as clear in your question as you might have been.

Is that what you're asking? Or are you asking for a scanning solution that covers all these things? (For example, one that recognises when an invoice that has to be input is one that is for a CIS registered subcontractor and deal with it appropriately?)

The need for clarification aside, what is the reason they have decided to move to a cloudy package? Is there a problem with the current Sage 50 set up? Given the volume of transactions, I would have thought something like Sage on the desktop, with its batch entry screen for purchase invoices, would be ideal - because the cloud packages I've used and seen have awful one or two page per invoice entry screens, which are slow, slow, slow.

I suppose that leads to the catch 22: because of the naff UI cloudy software offers for inputting invoices, a scanning solution is needed to speed up the process.

My thoughts exactly. Just a wee bit confused on the thread.

Does the version of sage 50 you already have not link to the cloud? Newer ones have both option, best of both words - link to desktop/server and cloud based.

I posted an earlier thread offering upgrade sage 50 to 10 user/  desktop or server with cloud/2017 version with 2018 version (for free) when its out (soon!) /perpetual disc (non of this subscription rubbish) pro functionality - £400 + VAT, including FULL 12months support. Offer has just run out - may want to wait for another offer.

Pretty sure that (or similar) scanner has been covered on here as well.

Hi Nicola

When I saw the answer I thought, o-oh, spam. but then checked your other four posts and it doesnt seem as though you are a spammer.

Could you revisit your post please as, as it stands, it makes little sense. If it was seeking clarification of Joannes post then it needed a question or exclamation mark. As it stands its simply the number 12 which will confuse readers.

Shaun.
