A quick thank you

Thank you to the advice of the regular members here, due to reading your posts I saved £££'s by not enrolling on an expensive foundation course. Instead I enrolled in the ACCA-X course and have ordered the AAT foundation 1-4 books off Amazon and also an ICB foundation level 2 book for £1.93 off Amazon also (P&P was £2.80 though). Many thanks!

Hi Alex
Can you add your first name so that it appears under the signature bar on your posts? Saves everyone looking it up each time!! (Edit profile --->signatures). You cant see it if you are using a mobile type device, but easier for the rest of us.

Just a general word of warning - those books will contain a certain amount of out of date information (eg legislation, tax, VAT, prime example is the change seen in discounts). Also the ICB books dont map directly to AAT.

Just so you are aware when it comes to the sitting of exams. Level 2 AAT you might be ok (apart from discounts) but you will need more robust and up to date information beyond that.

OK thanks. The ICB book I got as I was planning to do their exam but upon reading advice here I decided against it, so I guess that book is redundant. It was cheap enough so no big loss there.

Do you recommend I use the Kaplan study guides instead for AAT?

Hi Alex
If you are looking for second hand books the other things to be aware of - AAT are now on AQA2016, not AQA2013 - so if the listing doesnt mention it then dont buy it as they will be the latter which is no longer being tested as of 31 December 2017 (albeit AQA2016 has been around a while so you should be able to get some level 2 books). Other issue is for tax exams (incl indirect tax - level 3 and 4) you need to the correct Finance Act relative to the exams being done.

So any from Kaplan, First Intuition, BPP or Osborne Books.
