Oh well Ive just had another waste of time call - this one from some outfit called Office ( ) Essential. No Im not adding their website as (1) Im not giving them any free advertising and (2) its a sh1te site (which no one can find unless you know their business name!!!!)

I actually ignored their call (2nd one) but after they left a voicemail message I thought I would call them back.

Did I want to be bookkeeper to startups in my area. Blah blah about funding the start ups get, rattle through how they dont take any percentages of my fees, no intro fees, no this that or the other fee blur blur blur. Oh but then to be added to their sh1te website I have to pay £350+ VAT admin fee.

When I told them I wasnt interested they asked for my business name with the load of B*****s comment about removing me from their list - I just told them, its ok I will just block your call if you try again! That somewhat surprised the call handler.

Interesting when you look at their website there is already an Accountant with so called exclusive rights to the postcode that I am based in!!!!!

Hi Joanne

I fell for this about 4 or 5 years ago Joanne.  The one thing that impressed me was the sales handler didn't hard sell.  It was £200 and I was told that they did a lot of business training with apprentices and any new prospects would be pushed my way in the North Yorkshire area.  At £200 I probably only needed one sign up and I got my money back.  So how many enquiries did I get?  Sweet FA.  Dada. Nowt.  Biggest waste of £200 ever. Basically they stick your name on their website and that's it.

Nope, I had a quick look after seeing your post, but the £200 was just for the year.  They've got a Harrogate Chartered Accountant with exclusive rights to the HG postcode now, think they might just have wasted £350

Hi Guys, Yep I'm another one that got caught out with these. Again not one single lead. They were really surprised when I didn't want to advertise the following year!!! You definitely had the right response Joanne. Debbie
