Not sure if Im allowed to join as I don't actually work for myself, I am employed - in practice
Currently working through the ACA - CTA pathway, it is not easy, but it is interesting.
Why would I like to join?
This forum has many smart brains onboard
Plus I enjoy seeing other peoples views and opinions on a particular point - especially tax related issues.
I hope you're all enjoying your accountants Christmas Holiday, as I know mine didn't begin until the 8th February, what with the dreaded self-assessment season, followed by VATs!
Hope to speak soon

I'm currently preparing to sit my final professional paper, with the aim of sitting a CTA paper in November. I need to try to work out the best way of planning the route as I'll still need to complete the ACA advanced level. The trouble is, I need to complete both qualifications to gain memberships - less I go back and complete the ACA tax module!!
All fun and games, but at the moment I'm still enjoying it - just wish I had more time (and peace and quiet) to study.
Having looked through a friends CTA study texts, I wouldn't say it's much different from ACA, but it goes deep into the finer details and makes technical references to legislation. Personally I'd say CTA comes into its own when you're working on options to tax, buildings and VAT, tax planning and tax strategies.
Thanks
