HMRC client authorisation

Hi all,

Not sure if this is correct but I am sure that I read somewhere that you do not need to have HMRC client authorisation if you are going to file their Tax Return using commercial accounting software.

I use Taxfiler and have always waited for the authorisation before submitting returns just wanted to know if it can be done without it

Cheers

I've seen it somewhere methinks too. Certainly works for payroll and I don't think I had agent status for my first Taxfiler return.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Yes that's correct Doug, I've done it myself in the past
