Hi all, very quick question. Are eggs VAT rated? I can't find it on HMRC for some reason.

Thanks

Sam

Hi Sam

Eggs are zero-rated for VAT.

VAT notice 701/15, 2.8 Eggs and fish roes which are normally used for food for human consumption and are fit for such use are always zero-rated.

Hope that helps

Helen

Not always zero rated. Depends what you are doing with them. Hot takeaway= standard.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
