Disbursement out of scope of EU VAT
Permalink Closed

Hi

Hope everyone has been enjoying the lovely weather! However, i was hoping someone could help me with the following.

Received an invoice from FeDex:

Disbursements out of the scope of EU VAT £263.43

Clearance Administration Charge vatable at 0.00 % 12.00

Other Charges Vatable at 0.00% 0.00

VAT at 0.00 % 0.00

Can we (a VAT registered company)  claim £263.43? which includes £203.93 -Import Tax and £59.50 Import Duty?

Or only Import Tax can be claim after C79 received?

Thank you in advance!

This is not a site for business owners, so you need to speak to your Accountant.

Import duty is not VAT.

Hi Joanna,

I am not a business owner. I am a bookkeeper with a very little experience :(

I thought this forum is for bookkeepers with different levels of experience. Please, let me know if I am wrong.

Regards,
Nat

So perhaps the customary intro before we start might help.

We always ask newbies!

Usual stuff - what prof body do you belong to, do you work for yourself or in a practice/ firm, are you a bookkeeper or accountant, what qualifications, how long in role, where up to in your studies-what exams passed/with what body/in midst of doing, where based, what you did before this role? That sort of thing. Helps get to know you but also mor importantly how best to pitch answers.

Also, pls add your first name to the signature bar. Plus full name to your profile section.

Btw it's Joanne, not Joanna

There is a paid option as well Shaun, always has been hasn't there, since the re-launch a while ago. Paid option gets you the discounts to PII etc.

Oh. Maybe it has. Nothing announced so I assumed it was still there as an option, plus the insurers, if you use them, still ask if you are a member or not, at renewal.

This one has just logged off, so perhaps wanted to actually pay a fee.

My special offer, for today only, hourly rates from £240 an hour (plus VATwink

 Hi Joanne

It looks like the paid option has gone, which I'm surprised about, as it was there earlier in the year.  GDPR perhaps?

Probably other reasons.

But if the paid option is gone, why would the OP think there would be a charge, as Shaun asked?  No response to our Qs though on this thread, although I can see some additional information has been added to the profile.

 Hi Joanne
