Sage 50 Payroll does not let you encrypt any generic reports, ie P60'S, P45'S which is not GDPR complaint if sending via email. P60'S aren't a problem as i am now using Sage online payslips but P45's i am having to post and some employees prefer to be sent electronically. Does anyone have any recommendations for software that will encrypt certain documents.
Hi John, unfortunately Sage wont let you encrypt generic documents like P45/P60. It is daft really seeing as you can encrypt lots of other documents. I think the online portal for employees to access their wageslips and P60's should also include access to your P45. Maybe they're working on it....

So you can encrypt some docs but not others? How bloody stupid!
Another way round would be to print the document as a pdf and password protect it then. Have a look at pdfxchange which will cost around £40 I think (the free version no longer available on it's own, or use bullzip which is £62.00 (the bullzip free version will password protect to adobe reader version 5 but from the below article it suggests you encrypt to version 7)

Another alternative that was discussed here recently is to zip the file up using winrar, winzip or 7-zip. 7-zip is free I believe and I've just tested it and you can zip, password protect and send to email by right clicking the file and selecting 7-zip. Just remember that whichever program you use make sure the default is set to zip.

My clients pay for their software but do agree Ssge is very expensive! I have just been reading through the other thread on Payroll/GDPR. Some interesting suggestions which i will look into.

It is totally unbelievable that you cannot encrypt all documents! I think it is something Sage need consider. Thank you for all of the options which i will now review.
