Don't put yourself down John, remember we've seen the Baywatch beach photo

Hi Joanne

When I read the list I did pause at the vindaloo, that's way too hot for me but it did make me think of a sizzling pan of chicken tikka coming out down at the Indian.

Lush Doug.   And the Chicken tikka too. wink

I spoke too soon, it's just piddled down here.  Typical, since I found a good book I could read in the garden on a rare short lunch break.

 Hi Joanne,

Was wet and overcast here all morning but turned out lovely again now.

I love reading, at the moment I am on a Wilbur Smith book based back in 1710 which like most of his books is a good read

What you reading??? In fact the question is open to all to join in with what are you reading at the moment?

Glad to see everyone is keeping busy :)

We had horrible grey day in Scotland with lots of drizzly, sticky rain yesterday Joanne - it was still nice and warm at 19c though!

Ive read a couple of Wilbur Smith's in the past.   Was going to pinch a book off my Dad as he had loads and I wanted a new one, but a physical book. But left it at his house, so Im back to my kindle  and reading an old school reading list book by Harrison Ainsworth - The Lancashire Witches.   Bit of a slog with ye olde english in parts, but based on a true story (loosely) and besides I love Pendle Hill where its based!

Hows the job going?

I've not read a physical book in years, love reading on Kindle, mainly crime or physiological thrillers, however at the moment I'm reading a racy tale of a young girls's bid to get deflowered. It's quite edgy with more than a sprinkling of "bad" language. Not my normal genre and probably more of a woman's read, but the author is known to me so I promised I'd read it and give a review. It's called "Diary of an Ageing Sexual Adolescent" by Angelina Kennedy, it's available now as a digital download or in paperback on Friday on Amazon.  I'm going to get the paperback signed _ just in case _ she becomes famous (sadly missed out on J K Rowlings lol)

Im with you on your usual choice of book, the name alone puts me off that other one, being the 'diary' but I mean.  Let us know what you think!

I recently went to an author talk for a chap who lives near me and has written a few books - police proecdural types (and then for some reason moved on to ghostly fairy type or some such nonsense).   I did say I would try some of his earlier books but I cannot for the life of me remember his name. Oops!!!!!   Apparently its really easy to recognise places from his descriptions, including his friends old house which he made into a Madam's house which then raised a few eyebrows in the (ever so lightly posh) area.

If you enjoy police procedurals I can recommend Conrad Jones, there's a series of them all set in Liverpool, including one set in a semi apocalyptic future, as well as M A Comley's Justice series, and I particularly like Angela Marsons, who has written a series of books about Kim Stone, a DI in the black country.

Oh my dreadful typing!! Now I cannot edit it as you have quoted me.

I bought my Mum the Angela Marsons book for Christmas to get her on to a new author and the feedback was good. Not had the chance to borrow them as I probably only get to read about 3 minutes every week!!

Noted re the other two for the future. My Dad is ploughing through so many books in this hot weather that I might need some ideas for him as well as for me when I get more time, so thanks for that John, very useful.
